Eck Family – Ocala Horse Farm

So, looking at this photo, you’re probably feeling so bad for this family, right? Like how they just had to settle on such an ordinary location? And their poorly thought out wardrobe choices? And how that pesky horse just would leave my clients alone? Tragic, I tell ya. Tragic.

YEAH RIGHT!

This was one of the most beautiful locations I’ve ever had the good fortune to shoot at. It was so beautiful that it was nearly overwhelming. Each new view was more spectacular than the last! I could easily spend a week there and never replicate a shot. Simply stunning!

If you don’t know Ocala, then you don’t know that it is the “Horse Capital of the World.” No, seriously. the US. Dept. of Agriculture puts it’s seal of approval on using that phrase on promotions in 1999. I’m guessing that it still holds true as you drive along the country roads with one horse farm following another. It’s quite impressive…especially since I know absolutely NOTHING about the horse industry.

Back to the shoot…The Eck Family was a lot of fun to work with. I even brought the sofa I used in my mini-sessions to the shoot. And I love how we used it. You see, I’m not really one for using props unless they are part of the story. but this worked very well and the images look very fun. The girls dressed in a simple textured cream with leather boots and the boys wore denim. They were like cookies and milk…wings and celery…peanut butter and jelly…you get the point. They looked great! I might have climbed a few fences getting the shot, but it was all in the name of art. Or that I just wanted to climb a fence and fit in.
