365 Day Project | Day 8 | Ocala Photographer

365 Day project | Day 8 | 01.03.2013

Today was a tough one with regards to capturing an image for the day. It’s not that I didn’t have ideas or the means to execute them. I just failed miserably in my attempts. Between the two failed attempts, I drove to the park on a whim to see what I could see. It’s a large park and I figured that there would be…something. Well, on this rainy day it was quite eerie. Only 1 or 2 folks were exercising on the big trail. And you know those people who seem like they might be talking to themselves, but upon closer inspection, they’re talking on their Bluetooth headset? Yeah, there was one of them. Scared the %^$* out of me! It’s actually kind of funny to think about. Bottom line, everything was quiet (except for that Bluetooth guy!). What really struck me, visually, was the absence of children at the playground. Obviously, there wouldn’t be anyone playing on such a gloomy afternoon, but I’m so used to its usual bustle.

It was shot at 90mm, so not a huge compression within the image. I performed a b&w conversion because I felt it contributed to making the scene more quiet. I enjoy the glisten of the water streaking on the seat and that the focal plane is not in the foreground but is set back just a little.

While I didn’t wake up knowing that this was what I wanted to capture, I’m glad that I made it happen. This is what this 365 day adventure is all about.

Thank you for stopping by today! Happy Friday!
