Baby Shower – Ocala Photographer

So, you might remember that my sister-in-law, Colette, is having her first baby. Her bestest girlfriends hosted the sweetest baby shower that was yellow-y fresh with lemonade, tulips and rubber duckies. You see, they’re not sure which flavor of baby they are getting, so the festivities were very gender neutral. Does it really matter what the gender is? Not at all. It’s sure to be loved and spoiled regardless. Super cute! Enjoy the photos:

Newborn Twins | Ocala Photographer

So, I had the awesome privelege of capturing these beautiful newborn twins at just 12 days old. Vivienne and Anna were just as sweet as can be and slept like little dreams. Of course, Momma was right there to meet their every need with mother’s milk, a swaddle or soothing kisses to their tiny heads. Seeing these little ones reminds me just how simple babies can be… full tummies, clean diapers and lots of time to sleep. I wish mine were little again, just so I could take it all in once more. These days are fleeting.  And that is one of the reasons that I believe professional photography is important..preserving these fleeting moments.

Enjoy.

There are a bit more, but I will save those for the family to share. Thank you Miss M. for allowing me to share this time with you!

365 Day Project | The end

So, I’ve been away from the blog and abandoned my 365 Day Project. Did you see that coming? It was a little ambitious, but I’m happy to have had the experience that I did and I’m quite certain that it made me a better photographer (even if it was only for 2 months). It’s just that it was getting hard. I know, wah wah wah. Poor me. So hard. No really, I was struggling with finding the balance of family and “work.” I know that every working mother and some fathers go through this. The consensus is that we do what works best for our own families. And what worked for me/ us was to bring my project to a halt. Next year Alex will start Pre-K and I feel that I owe him my attention while he’s currently home full time.

What I expect to continue blogging about will consist of client work as well as brief updates of my boys (for my picture- craving family members who live afar.).

It’s all good and stress-free and I’m looking forward to what my business holds. I hope that you will continue to support my endeavors

Thank you!

365 Day Project | Day 50 – 56 | Ocala Photographer

Bet you never thought that I would return to this blog again. Fooled ya! I’ve been keeping up with my photo a day…just not blogging about it. So, here is one giant post with the past week of photos. Enjoy!

365 Day Project | Day 50 | 02.20.2013

Just trying an out of focus image here. I think that they can work under the correct circumstances. While I don’t think this is the best use, I’m pleased with the outcome. An out of focus silhoutte of a person is what I’m thinking would work better.

365 Day Project | Day 51 | 02.21.2013

Love me some lens flare. That’s all.

365 Day Project | Day 52 | 02.22.2013

Seeing a common theme here? There’s something about that spanish moss and the light that it catches…and at different times of day. So pretty and mysterious. This was sunrise. Just me in my mismatched ca-jamas (what Alex calls pajamas) taking pictures at 6:45am. It’s what we do as photographers, right?

365 Day Project | Day 53 | 02.23.2013

So, this wide angle was at sunset. (Maybe a little too wide, but I love the exaggeration) Pretty colors in the sky. I exposed for the sky making the trees appear in silhouette.

365 Day Project | Day 54 | 02.24.2013

Nothing artful in this image…just documenting how dirty little boys can get. I wanted to capture him straight on, but he wasn’t having anything to do with my camera. You see, when he rolls his eyes (like in this photo), he’s hiding from me. Oh, was he dirty. You should have seen his feet? Oy. The ring that left in the tub…

365 Day Project | Day 55 | 02.25.2013

Pretty spanish moss. I’m obviously having a thing for trees.

365 Day Project | Day 56 | 02.26.2013

Here’s something different. Not quite shooting a tree, but it’s in the same direction. What struck me about this was the cloud formation and the fact that it looked like a giant bird with it’s wings stretched open. Do you see it?

So, that’s all for today. I hope that you didn’t mind looking at trees and spanish moss.

365 Day Project | Day 49 | 02.19.2013

Yesterday was my husband’s birthday and we had a yummy cake to celebrate. Seriously, this was yummy!

I found the recipes online through Smitten Kitchen and The Pioneer Woman. It was a chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache filling and this sweet vanilla (?) icing on top (which I should have made a double batch of…doh!). The chocolate cake was so so moist and rich. It had the consistency of a boxed cake mix (which I love. Don’t judge.), but the flavor of homemade. And the ganache was creamy and rich and was the perfect compliment to the cake. This frosting is my favorite as it’s smooth as butter…’cause that’s the fat in it! YUM! Go make one. Delish.

I ended up with this shallow depth of field photo because my cake decorating skills are lacking and I didn’t have enough frosting to properly cover the cake. I used the natural light from the nearby window, but, in retrospect, I should have grabbed a reflector. Oh well. My photo mistake certainly did not alter the taste of the cake and that’s all I had on my mind! Happy Birthday, love!
